Bangkok enjoys a well-deserved reputation as the shopping capital of Southeast Asia with its range of products from Thai silks, gemstones, tailor-made suits and dresses, to inexpensive shoes, bronze ware and traditional handicrafts.
Prices are fairly uniform across town, but selection varies slightly between neighbourhoods: Chinatown is best for gold chains, Silom Road for silks and antiques, Sukhumvit for leather goods and tailors, shopping centres near Siam Square for high fashion and Patunam for cheap clothing.
