Central Jakarta, the main tourist hub, offers excellent shopping. Plaza Senayan, Plaza Semanggi, Mall Artha Gading are the country’s largest malls, offers a vast selection of clothing, cosmetics, jewelry and souvenirs as well as entertainment venue. Plaza Indonesia-EX has 250 stores, including Versace and Hard Rock Café. For bargain hunters, try Mangga Dua and Pasar Baru, which specializes in fabrics and clothing.

Traditional Indonesian arts and crafts are popular as souvenirs are available at Sarinah and Pasar Raya Grande in Blok M area. Batik hand-woven fabrics, woodcarvings and paintings are easily available. In the smaller shops, bargaining is accepted; however, in larger shops, prices are fixed. Electronics goods are both high quality and inexpensive with all major brands available.
